We ducked into Washington to see Mt St Helens for a day trip which was longer than expected, but well worth the time and drive. Two Junior Ranger badges each boy that day!

Our two vehicles split paths through Washington on our way north to Anacortes in the extreme north west corner of the country. MJ went inland to see the hops growing Mecca of the Yakima Valley where 77% of the hops in the US are grown and where they have a quaint but thorough hops museum. He got a nice scenic circuit around the east sides of Mt Adams and Mt Rainer as viewed from the higher plains. Meanwhile, the rest of the party detoured to the iconic Multnomah Falls on the Oregon side of the Columbia River, before heading up the coastal roads to stop in Seattle.

We all reconvened after a long day on the roads of Washington at a beautiful home in Anacortes, needing a rest day… which we all agreed we needed

The following day we split paths.
